Instructions
Steps to follow:
- Write the type of equation.
- Identify all the ions involved on both side of the products and reactants.
- Balance the following equations
- Write the number of ions for the products and reactants.
Example:
Zn3(PO4)2 + NaCl ---> Na3PO4 + ZnCl2
Step 1. Double Displacement
Step 2.
- Reactants: Zn+2, PO4-3, Na+1, Cl -1
- Products: Zn +2, PO4-3, Na+1, Cl-1
Step 3. 1Zn3(PO4)2 + 6NaCl ---> 2Na3PO4 + 3ZnCl2
Remember, You are multiplying the yellow number times the blue number.
Step 4.
- Reactants: Zn+2 = 3, PO4-3 = 2, Na+1 = 6, Cl -1 = 6
- Products: Zn +2 = 3, PO4-3 = 2, Na+1 = 6, Cl-1 = 6
