Pedigree Chart—graph that shows the pattern of a genetic trait in a family

            --can be used to trace presence of genetic problems in families

        --used to determine the possibility of children having the genetic problem

        --each row represents a new generation

                        --boys are squares, girls are circles

                    --lines connecting the centers of two “people” indicate marriage

                            --offspring connected to the center of that line

                    --people hanging from the same line are siblings

                    --shaded often (BUT NOT ALWAYS) represents the recessive trait....
