Layout and Composition
So how do you make a document look nice? Are there rules you have to follow, or is it more of an unstructured art form? Well, it depends. Luckily there are a few principles of design we can learn to make everything we create look a bit better.
I'll let my friends at gcflearnfree.org Links to an external site. explain:
Proximity - Using visual space to show relationships in your content.
White Space - The spaces between your content, lines, and margins.
Alignment - Arrangement in a straight line, or in a grid.
Contrast - Differences between objects.
Hierarchy - Various levels of emphasis that guide the audience through your work.
Repetition - Maintaining a consistent look and feel by reusing certain design elements.
