Instructions

Dry ice is frozen carbon dioxide.  Carbon Dioxide is a normal part of our earth's atmosphere.  It is the gas that we exhale during respiration, and the gas that plants uptake in photosynthesis.  Carbon Dioxide is used in a wide variety of products, for example, it is gas added to soda pop to make it fizz.  Dr. ice is particularly useful for freezing, and keeping things frozen because of its very cold temperature, -78LaTeX: ^\circ C ( -109.3LaTeX: ^\circ F).  It is widely used because it is simple to freeze and easy to handle using insulated gloves.  Dry ice changes directly from a solid to a gas through a process called sublimation.  Follow the directions on the Dry ice lab.  DO NOT TOUCH THE DRY ICE YOURSELF!  YOUR INSTRUCTOR WILL MOVE IT WITH GLOVES FOR YOU.
